Study Series

The Study series represents a departure from marine imagery and reflects the influence of minimalism and conceptual work. I seek to engage the viewer in one of the processes I've used by simplification. My attempts to make the process obvious by stripping away imagery is met with more distraction as the basic elements of the process become images themselves: the texture of the ink and paper, the paper's deckled edge and the shape of the roller or brayer used to apply the ink to the paper. The series poses a question and expresses the beauty of paper.
